Friends of Bishop’s House

In 1894 when Alexander Chinnery-Haldane, the Bishop of Argyll and the Isles, founded Bishop’s House he saw Iona as a home of prayer: the powerhouse from which the light of the Gospel, its search and healing words, had spread across the world. Thus Bishop’s House became a house of prayer, study, contemplation and Eucharist.

The Friends of Bishop’s House were started in 1992 to provide extra amenities for the House and to provide a bursary fund for those recommended by their clergy as being in need of help to be able to come to Iona. Over the years many have been helped and the Friends have provided many items and improvements to the House.

Will you help keep this lovely house in the place of pilgrimage, available for all who want to use it? Will you come yourself?
